About Me

My photo
Our adventure started on a beautiful June day in 2004. Fast forward 12 years and now we are the proud parents of 3 active, beautiful boys. Nathan, Bracken, and Marco. We call Prescott Valley, Arizona home and are constantly reminded that there is never enough time to accomplish and experience everything we think we want. Life with a young family is precious and simplicity is our ongoing quest.

First Slip'n'Slide of the Season

Nathan has been waiting his whole life for this moment.  To use his very own slip'n'slide in the comfort of his backyard.  Nathan has adored slip'n'slides since 2 summers ago when he experienced one at his cousin's house and another at a reunion all in the same weekend.

At the end of last summer I picked up this slip'n'slide on major clearance in hope that I could conceal it's existence from Nathan, because I didn't want to spend the entire Fall, Winter and Spring helping him wait patiently for Summer.  We made it halfway through Winter.

Once spring rolled around Nathan was sure that slip'n'slide weather had arrived at last.  And then we put in our grass and Nathan started asking every day if we could put up the slip'n'slide.  Soon after we finished the grass we had several cold spells and even some snow which helped convince Nathan that it wasn't time YET.

But now with Summer securely on it's way it was time to set up the long awaited slip'n'slide.  And it didn't dissapoint.

Right now the weather is very warm but not hot enough to offset the constant breeze here in PV.  The boys made the best of it taking little breaks to sprawl out on their beach towels to warm back up.

Bracken didn't like the slip'n'slide at first, but after watching all the fun Nathan was having he decided to give it a second chance.  He prefers to splash in the puddle at the end.

Yeah for Summer!

Wood Pile

As we were nearing the end of operation "backyard makover for Marci's wedding open house" we decided it was finally time to tame the wood pile and move it to a new location out of the way.  I was inside making dinner, so Curtis tackled the project with his two trusty helpers.

Through this entire project our little boys have really stepped up to the task and have learned that fun can be had when you work hard together.

Nathan loves his work gloves, and I love that he can put them on all by himself this year.  With how much little boys take gloves off, it sure saves me a lot of time when I don't have to put them back on their tiny fingers.

Bracken is a machine.  He just keeps on going till there is no more to do.

Nathan works hard too but he takes time to enjoy a few extra curricular activites along the way.  About every 10 minutes he would take a swing break.

Once all the wood was relocated, we needed to clean up the wood chips and random debris that had blown under the pile.  Nathan's hunger brought him into the house to check on dinner's status.  That left Bracken alone with Daddy and Nathan's work gloves (which Bracken snags every chance he gets) to finish up.  Bracken pretty much single handedly filled the entire trash back with leaves and twigs.  It amazed me to see my little one year old completely focused on such a grown up task.

Good work my boys!
