About Me

My photo
Our adventure started on a beautiful June day in 2004. Fast forward 12 years and now we are the proud parents of 3 active, beautiful boys. Nathan, Bracken, and Marco. We call Prescott Valley, Arizona home and are constantly reminded that there is never enough time to accomplish and experience everything we think we want. Life with a young family is precious and simplicity is our ongoing quest.

2 Months Old

Another month has come and gone and our little Marquito just keeps getting bigger and cuter!

First off his stats:
15 lbs and 24 3/4" long
Our little boy is actually a big boy falling in the 90% range on all his measurments.

He does have a few little odd things to take note of.  His eyes are still goopy some days are better than others.  At his checkup our pediatrition noticed an irregularity in his left pupil, which in his experience fixes itself over time and is nothing to worry about but something to keep an eye on.  Marco also has a little dimple of sorts on his chest right below his chin.  It is not actually a dimple but rather a cyst of sorts.  Our doctor said there's not actually a real name for it.  He explained that when a fetus is forming in the early stages pouches are formed that eventually develop into body parts and sometimes there are leftover pouches that end up in random places.  Funny side not-as he was explaining it I thought of My Big Fat Greek Wedding and the aunt who had a twin in a mole on her neck. Marco doesn't have a long lost twin but he does have something under his skin that is not normal but not problamatic.  His cyst has a nice covering of skin over it (sometimes these cysts can creat a tunnel of sorts from the skin into the body-weird I know) and the only issue that may come up is infection.  So his strange, un-namable cyst is anther to keep an eye on.  Other than these 3 issues he is absolutely perfect.

During this last month Marco has reached a few milestones.  He started smiling at me when he nursed and got his diaper changed and it wasn't long before he smiled for anyone willing to give him some lovein'.  He has the cutest little smirk. He graduated to size 2 diapers and 6 month clothes.  He was blessed and met Grandpa King and later that same week Tia Marci for the first time.

Marco loves attention.  One morning he was laying on my bed hanging out while I finished getting ready, when he started to fuss.  I let him fuss for a minute because I was in the middle of doing my hair but he didn't want to be patient and started crying harder.  I walked over to him and started rubbing his belly and talking to him and he stopped crying immediately and a smile spread across his face.  The little stinker was just fine he simply needed some company.

Marco is starting to enjoy a few simple toys.  If I help him grip a toy he puts it right to his mouth to explore it and give a good slobbering.  He is starting to drool and slobber but not so much that I need to put a bib on him every day.  He really enjoys his bouncy chair and the little toys that dangle from it.  He will sit in his chair and stare at those toys consentrating really hard and then out of no where he punches on of them.  He is getting the hang of that hand eye cordination thing.  A few time he has successfully grabbed onto one of the toys too.

He has yet to giggle but he is getting very close.  He sqeaks and grunts but a giggle has yet to erupt.  Marco is also getting better at sucking on his chupi.  He only likes his chupi when he gets tired.  And even then he sucks it for only a few minutes until he falls asleep and then out it pops.  If he is awake and happy he wants nothing to do with it.

I adore my Marquito.  I can't get enought of his chubby little legs and arms, his delicate fingers, his pot belly, button nose, deep brown eyes, and crooked smile.

Toddler Growing Pains

Bracken is such a character.  One afternoon he grabbed the bumbo out of the closet and plopped himself down in the middle of the living room floor to play some cards.  No one was insterested in playing with him but that didn't damper his mood he had a blast anyway.  When he was done, he did require some assistance to get out of the bumbo.

Bracken is at the stage where afternoon naps are a thing of the past for most days. He gest drowsy en the late afternoon but he it sure something wonderful will happen while he is sleeping and he refuses to miss out.  Sometimes I tell him he is required to take a nap if he wants to participate in a fun evening activity or outing so he gives in and naps.  But most days he pushes through his afternoon fatigue until his second wind kicks in.  I try to hold off their TV time till late afternoon because then I can trick Bracken into napping.  A majority of the time, he will fall asleep during a movie and sleep peacefully on the couch.

Totally Awesome Tent

One Sunday evening a few weeks ago I had the bright idea of making a tent for my boys in their room between the crib and their bunkbed.  I set it all up while they brushed their teeth and got ready for bed, then I kept them out of the room until after scriptures and family prayer to build up their anticipation.

When they walked in their room they were super excited and even more thrilled when I told them they could sleep in it too.  I scored major "Awesome Mom" points with this one!

We snuggled them in, and reminded them that they needed to go to sleep and not stay up goofing off especially if they wanted to do this again some time.  My sweet boys went right to sleep and when they woke up the next morning they had fun lingering and playing in their tent.

They had so much fun we kept it up for the whole week and they slept and napped in it every day.

They played in it and even watched a movie in it.  These boys were in tent heaven.

Smiles & Snoozes

Marco's Blessing

Curtis blessed Marco on Sunday May 6th.  Grandma & Grandpa King traveled down from Idaho with Tia Aubrey, and we had a good bunch of the Kleinman clan to celebrate with us.

Cicle Members: Curtis, Grandpa King, Grandpa Kleinman, Tio Andy, Tio Brian, Tio Eric, Uncle Mick & Steve, Bishop Montes, Bro. Cornwall, Bro. Hartley and Michael (a random young man in our ward who is a little odd and slow, he invited himself into all 3 baby blessing circles for the day).

I dressed Marco in the blessing outfit that Nathan and Bracken wore as well.  Tia Chelsea made it and I love passing this special outfit made with love from boy to boy.

And of course Bracken had to partake in the picture taking action.  He is like moth to light when it comes to Marco, he just can't help himself.

Sunday was a big day for us with Curtis and I both teaching the 3rd hour of church.  Luckily we had our parents and family to help us host and feed everyone after our church services.  We served Cafe Rio Salad, which is always a crowd pleaser and easy to make for large groups.  Bracken managed to make the afternoon more stressful than necessary with a colossal tantrum that I am sure worried our neighbors on the entire block.  He was loud and furious, all because of a tiny dollop of guacamole (that he usually loves) on his plate.  That's life with an extra stubborn 2 year old for ya'.

The King's had to leave bright and early Monday morning, but we were glad for every second we had with them.  It was the first time my Dad was able to meet Marco which made it a special trip fo him.

Chupi Practice

Marco really enjoys sucking on his chupi, he just needs a little help keeping it in his mouth.  So most days we give him a "keeping the chupi in" practice session and it goes a little something like this:

Marco starts to get a little tired....

Put the chupi in...

Hold the chupi in and start to let go...

Out pops chupi!

Sleepy Cowboy

Bracky is becoming more of a big boy evey day and with that comes fewer naps.  But even cowboys get tired and need a little siesta every now and then.

Breakfast For Dinner

When you have church at 8 am you really have to be on your A game.  I had planned on fixing a roasted chicken for dinner but, I forgot to take the said chicken out of the freezer on Saturday, I was not on my A game.  Plan B, came to me about an hour before dinner, I was cutting it close.   Since I needed something yummy and quick I decided that having Breakfast for Dinner was the best option.

Pancakes, hashbrowns and moon sausages, as we like to call it.

Nathan insisted on eating outside to make our Sunday dinner even more spontaneous.

We took a family vote and we decided that we need to have Breakfast for Dinner more often.  It was a hit!
