Our adventure started on a beautiful June day in 2004. Fast forward 12 years and now we are the proud parents of 3 active, beautiful boys. Nathan, Bracken, and Marco. We call Prescott Valley, Arizona home and are constantly reminded that there is never enough time to accomplish and experience everything we think we want. Life with a young family is precious and simplicity is our ongoing quest.

Bountiful Harvest & Death to the Squash Bugs

All summer we have enjoyed garden fresh produce, but today Curtis harvested the mother load.  The tomatoes are growing like crazy this year and it was time to harvest the rest of the corn.

Unfortunately we have been battling the dreaded squash bug in a major way this year.  The last 2 years we have managed to keep the bugs at bay simply by hand picking and squashing them.  But that wasn't effective enought this go around.  After researching about these insects that are plaguing our squash plants, I learned they detest sunlight.  Our garden is a bit of a jungle this year, creating the ideal habitat for the darn pests.  Next year more space to allow for better sunlight action is in order for the squash plants.

I happened upon this simple solution to fight the infestation currently overrunning our little garden plot.  It works like a charm.  Who knew dish soap was such a powerful weapon!  We armed everyone with their own spray bottle and we went to town ridding our plants of squash bugs.
Nathan and Bracken thought it was great fun shooting the offenders.  They were 2 dedicated soldiers!

Thankyou dishwater solution!  You saved our squash plants!
