About Me

My photo
Our adventure started on a beautiful June day in 2004. Fast forward 12 years and now we are the proud parents of 3 active, beautiful boys. Nathan, Bracken, and Marco. We call Prescott Valley, Arizona home and are constantly reminded that there is never enough time to accomplish and experience everything we think we want. Life with a young family is precious and simplicity is our ongoing quest.

Pergola Pride

I am so proud of Curtis. He single handedly built our home a pergola, a shade structure to cover our back patio. Nathan and I helped him out a little bit but we were only his holders-of-posts and his handers-of-tools. It was his own blood (just a little bit) sweat and tears (actually just more sweat running down his face) that got the job done.

My Guys
What was even more amazing to me was how he planned and prepped and measured the whole thing himself. He didn't have a blue print or pattern to follow, it was all done in his head. Way to go Babe! He was so cute when he would put something together and realize that he had gotten it level or perfectly measured and cut the first time, he would literally burst with delight.
Day 1: measuring, cutting, marking posts
Day 2: post and first beams are in place
I was not so good about taking pictures of every day's progress, because during the week Curtis would work on it a little here and there. But after the 2nd weekend (and a half dozen trips to Home Depot) he got it done!

Yeah for more shade!

That looks great. I totally didn't take Curtis for the building kind of guy. Good for him!
