About Me

My photo
Our adventure started on a beautiful June day in 2004. Fast forward 12 years and now we are the proud parents of 3 active, beautiful boys. Nathan, Bracken, and Marco. We call Prescott Valley, Arizona home and are constantly reminded that there is never enough time to accomplish and experience everything we think we want. Life with a young family is precious and simplicity is our ongoing quest.

Our New Side Gig

August 11, 2013

Curtis and I received a visit from Pres. Lau, counselor in our Stake Presidency.  We were nervous about the reason for his visit, but it turns out we were not receiving new scary callings but rather an invitation to be the speakers for the upcoming stake youth fireside.  A bit scary in and of itself, but we committed our selves and we were very taken with the topic.  Our Stake Presidency wanted the youth of our stake to catch the vision of being steadfast and immovable in their testimony and faithfulness to the Kingdom of God.  We felt passionately about the topic which made it enjoyable to compile quotes and scriptures and share our own conviction and testimony.  We prepped and prepared for 2 weeks.  Curtis logged many hours constructing a power point presentation to enhance our talk and engage our audience.  We opted to give our talk tag team style switching off back and forth.  We practiced and had a dress rehearsal of sorts before the big event.

We were nervous but once we were up at the podium in front of the youth and felt them responding to us we relaxed and enjoyed every minute of it.  Curtis and I made a great team.  Between my serious nature and his joking nature we had those teenagers laughing and  maybe not crying but having some deep reflections.  The coolest part was knowing that what were presenting was what Heavenly Father wanted us to present.  Our talk didn't turn out word for word and exactly as we had rehearsed it time after time at home.  It was still mostly the same but the actual way we said things and even in some cases the way things flowed turned out completely different yet completely perfect.  We could feel the Holy Ghost taking over, guiding our deliverance and making it a presentation that we would never forget.  When we finished and sat down we both had the most amazing feeling of adrenaline and surety. Our hearts were overflowing and we were so grateful to know that we had just done was something good and pleasing to Him.

And boy did we make an impression.  Every one there leaders, youth and parents wanted to meet us, shake our hands, and we even had a few youth claim "that was the best fireside ever!".  Wow!  We felt like John Bytheway. Which got us to thinking that maybe we should take this show on the road.  But then we immediately thougt that dream might be better realized later in life when our children weren't so little and Curtis insanely busy with work, school and life in general.  For now we'll add it to our "someday" list and enjoy our minute of fame.
