About Me

My photo
Our adventure started on a beautiful June day in 2004. Fast forward 12 years and now we are the proud parents of 3 active, beautiful boys. Nathan, Bracken, and Marco. We call Prescott Valley, Arizona home and are constantly reminded that there is never enough time to accomplish and experience everything we think we want. Life with a young family is precious and simplicity is our ongoing quest.

Nathan'isms

Nathan is all about FUN, and the more people there are to play with the better. He makes a new friend every where we go, and he doesn't forget them. Nathan loves people and people love Nathan, mostly because he will carry on a conversation with you when most 3 year olds attention span forces them to move on when they realize there isn't a "fun" activity taking place. Nathan is a bottomless pit of questions, his most famous one, and more often than not his opening line when addressing people, being "What color is your house/bed/car/backpack (or any other random object)?"

Just like any other kid Nathan has his fair share of cute sayings. I love the cute and different way that children express themselves and the funny ways they pronounce certain words. What's even more hilarious is when their unique vocabulary takes over the family and becomes the "normal" way of saying things. In my own family we still have a few of those "too cute to forget" words that stuck around and are regular King Family Vocab like Albernuts (Albertsons), montu (monsters), hocky chocet (hot chocolate), fater walleys (water falls), and two boffems (both of them). So for kicks I thought I'd share some of the up and coming Kleinman Family Vocab certesy of Nathan. Not all of them will stay around for generations to come but for now they are sweet reminders of our little Ne Ne. Here goes...

cramria-camera
resemonk-restaurant
smasmellows-marshmellows
mat-kill from the Spanish matar
ei:"Look at these ants Mom, I'm going to mat them!"
fireworks cookies-Oreos
(the first time he ate Oreos we were watching fireworks, and now fireworks just woudn't be complete without them)
"Nephi and the Lemon"-the beginning to every verse of scripture Nathan "reads" when it is his turn
peter bunny and honey-peanut butter and honey

"Cob, cob corn on the cob!"

This summer we have been enjoying corn on the cob roasted on our grill, it is yummy in a major way. Bracken loves it just as much and maybe more than the rest of us. He chomps and sucks and makes us all crack up with his adorable silliness.

That didn't take long

One month, almost to the day, after Bracken learned how to crawl he started walking. He first crawled on May 27th and on June 26th he took his first steps. We were at a reunion in NM at a mountain retreat and the terain didn't lend itself much to crawling so he adapted. He has been extremely sturdy and stable on his own two feet for quite a while now, so we figured he would walk fairly soon we just didn't imagine it would this soon. But he is happy and extremely proud of himself. He still crawls a lot, especially when he wants to cover long distances or wants to go faster but he is venturing out on is own sturdy legs more every day.

9 Months Old

*Yet another post that has been waiting in the drafts for some time now. Oh well better late than never!

Bracken is 9 months old now! The nine months mark is a bitter sweet one for me, it means I'm closer to having a toddler than a baby. Both my boys seemed more grown up when they hit the 9 months mark but they also came into a stage of development that was just really fun. I love this age. Bracken is becoming more his own little person every day. He can crawl and participate in life around the house on a whole new level. It is fun and exciting to watch as he explores and tries new things to keep up with his big brother whom he adores!

Bracken's Stats

21 lbs & 29" long

Things I love about my Bracky:

1. The Snuggle Wiggle (when Bracken snuggles into my neck and shoulder he wiggles his little body to try and get as close as he possibly can)

2. The Silly Grin (you'll know it when you see it)

3. How he calls for "Ma Ma" while he is crawling around the house

4. His sweet little besos (he leans forward and his little eyes just beg for a kiss)

5. He puckers his lips and breathes rapidly through his nose when he really likes what he is eating

6. Watching his chubby little fingers as he feeds himself his finger foods

7. The Bathtime Bop (when I stand him up at the side of the tub and turn the water on he knows its bathtime and he gets super excited, bops up and down and squeals)

8. His chubby cheeks and big brown eyes are a recipe for cute

9. The squeal of laughter that erupts when I nibble on his "sugar" (I nuzzle my nose on his neck right under his chin, gets him every time)

10. How he clenches my shirt in his little fist when I hold him or nurse him

11. Hearing the coos and giggles on the baby monitor when he wakes up happy

Swiffer Fun

Sometimes the simplest things make for the best toys. Both Nathan and now Bracken love to play with the swiffer sweeper. Nathan was around 9 months when he discovered the delightfuly long and slender handle of the swiffer and Bracken has followed in his footsteps. Nathan would crawl over to the swiffer and start pushing it back and forth in such a way that it seemed he really knew what he was doing with it and Bracken is no different.

Bracken
Thank you swiffer sweeper for all the minutes of fun you have shared with my boys!

Birthday Buisness

*This post was from a while ago, I just barely noticed that I never posted it. It's just been hanging out in the drafts. So here it is!
Curtis is 29! He feels really old but I keep telling him he is still on the up side of the hill, nothing to worry about right? For his birthday he got more grilling gear, a manly apron, grilling utensils/tools, and some telescoping "Smas-mellow" roasters for future camping trips. The whole night was basically a grill theme, because we had a grilled feast for his birthday dinner. YUM!!!

At one point in the evening I found Curtis just chillin' in his new hammock that he brought back from his Mexico trip a few weeks earlier. Sometimes a man just needs his own space where things are not at all complicated.

His birthday cake is now my new favorite dessert. It is dangerously good I saw it at this blog and new it was the perfect cake for Curtis. Man it was delicious! Chocolate lovers beware!!!
